Due to the complete fire ban issued by the BC Wildfire Service, the Comox Valley Regional District and local partner fire departments will also be implementing a full fire ban starting Thursday, May 7 at 12:00 PM.

Campfires will not be permitted anywhere within the Coastal Fire Centre jurisdiction, including provincial parks, Crown land, and private property. The beach fire program at Goose Spit Park has also been suspended.

The following fire departments are included in the ban:
• Comox Fire Rescue
• Courtenay Fire Department
• Cumberland Fire Rescue
• Denman Island Fire Rescue
• Fanny Bay Volunteer Fire Department
• Hornby Island Fire Rescue
• Merville Fire Department
• Mount Washington Fire Department
• Oyster River Fire Rescue
• Ships Point Volunteer Fire Department
• Union Bay Fire Rescue

Please note, the ban does not apply to CSA or ULC-approved cooking stoves and portable campfire devices that use propane, gas, briquettes, liquid, or gaseous fuel, as long as the flame height stays under 15 cm.

To help reduce wildfire risk across the Comox Valley, smoking has also been banned in all CVRD parks and fire rings will be removed from designated park areas.
